Political campaigns are essential in the democratic process, allowing candidates to reach out to potential voters and promote their platforms. However, traditional campaign methods can be time-consuming and costly. With the advent of automated calling and texting services, political campaigns now have access to powerful and efficient tools that can greatly enhance their outreach efforts. This article explores the various benefits of utilizing political automated calling and texting services.
AUTOMATED CAMPAIGN CALLS:
Get Out the Vote Calls
You can record your message(s) by calling our recording line. If you don't want to do the recording yourself, you can have someone else do it for you or we can do it for you for no additional charge. You could use a robocall to announce a mailer you just sent out or to invite voters to your campaign kickoff. Let's say your opponent sends a mailer that is negative just before election day...you can call in and record a reply to let voters know it was false and they shouldn't be misled by last-minute smears.
Automated Polling
With our help, we can provide you with a script that you can record yourself or we can do it for you at no additional charge. "If there were an election for City council today, and the candidates are Joe Smith and Lisa Jones, who would you vote for?" Press 1 for Joe Smith or Press 2 for Lisa Jones. Whether you want to do a one- or two-question survey or as many as you want, you can do it.
Membership Contact
Organizations can use this technology to communicate with members, for purposes such as issue notifications and grassroots organizing.
Press 1 Calls
Press 1 to be transferred to your elected official or Press 1 if you would like a yard sign.
With this technique, respondents are instructed to press a digit that will allow them to be transferred to an elected officials office in order to ask them to vote Yes or No on specific legislation.
This same technology can be used for you to record a call and ask voters if they would like a yard sign to please Press 1 now. And then you or your volunteers follow up with the voter.
AUTOMATED TEXTING SERVICES
Person to Person Texting
More and more campaigns are using texting to communicate with voters. These are texts sent out by live callers.
SMS – This is a text without a graphic. You can have a link to your website or a link to your video, but NO graphic. The max number of characters is 306 and must include your disclaimer and “Reply stop to opt-out” wording.
MMS – This is a text with a graphic up to 725KB in size OR a video up to 50-55 seconds long. You can have up to 2,000 characters (ideally 400-600 are best). If your message is too long, you run the risk of voters not taking the time to read the text. The max number of characters is 2,000 and must include your disclaimer and “Reply stop to opt out” wording.
An easy way to count characters is just go to www.lettercount.com type in what you want, and it will count the characters. Then you can edit, copy, paste that information, and email to me with your cell number and we will send a test text to you so that you can see what it looks like before we send it out.
If you are doing an MMS, here are some specs that may be helpful if you have someone who is helping you out with the video:
Supported file types: .mp4, .avi, .mov, .wmv
Preferred HD format: 16:9
Video length: Supported length up to 60 seconds, 30 seconds or less recommended. (the shorter the better it will visually appear, but no longer than 60 seconds.)
When we send out the texts the Caller ID number will show up as coming from the area codes that are in your list of cell numbers. If you do not have a list of voters, let us know and one can be obtained for an additional cost.
Whatever people text back to us we capture that information, and you get back that information along with the opt-out requests that are automatically removed so they do not get anymore texts from you. Some people will text back nasty things but that’s just how things are these days.
We can even do a TEXT SURVEY:
Hello, this is ____ and we are asking voters who they will vote for in the race for County Commission District 5. Joe Smith or Nancy Evans?
Reply 1 for Joe Smith
Reply 2 for Nancy Evans
Reply 3 for Undecided (you do not need to have an undecided option)
Paid for by Friends of Joe Smith
Reply STOP to opt-out
